Legacy eSports begun its CSGO journey in the middle of 2015, and has seen, to date, international appearances at Dreamhack in Sweden, and consistent showings at National events, including National Championships. Our focus at Legacy is always on the long term growth and development of our players, but it has required no small effort in the face of the inherent instability associated with esports professionals and teams in the Oceanic scene. To date we have nominally had three different CSGO rosters, as differing personal expectations has led to the need to reform teams to suit the needs of the players and the organisation.
Our most recent roster was picked up in the height of the new ESL ANZ Champs competition and introduced us to White, Gotz, devK, marto and HK1. A change mid contract saw Jester come in to supplement the team, with the ever hard working JNR filling in as a substitute. The contract for this roster finished amicably on the 1st of December, with everyone having fulfilled their obligations. At that point we decided not to resign the roster as it was, with long stalwarts of the scene, in marto and devK, moving to “hang up the mouse” from the full-time commitments of Oceanic Pro CSGO. We took this time to survey the scene, review our options and look at how we could best support the players of a 2017 CSGO squad.
This process began back in October with discussions with our current roster, and with putative new rosters. During this process we took into account the entry of the new Zen Gaming League and its impact on the future of competitive tournaments in Australia and New Zealand. We interviewed a wide variety of players and scene experts, and having done a fair amount of homework and background checking. Now we have decided on an approach of a mix of new and old for our 2017 CSGO squad.
The most familiar face will be that of Marcus ‘Gotzeloff’ Fonti who was on our most recent roster, and has been a hardworking and dedicated individual in the formation of this new squad. Marcus is a well known personality to us at Legacy and we have always appreciated his easy going approach coupled with his desire to work hard to achieve at the pinnacle of Australian CSGO. Marcus will be captaining the team and working closely with Legacy on the continued Professional Development of the entire squad.
Joining him is a mixture of faces with history from a range of former teams ranging from Vox Eminor to Chiefs. These are players who have come together with a mutual passion that combines love of the game with a desire to achieve at the highest level.

In a pattern that seems to be forming from our recent history, with our extended due diligence process coming to a conclusion just as a roster qualifies for a large event, this squad has qualified as one of two teams through the Zen League Open Qualifier that will now see them play as one of only four teams at the Zen League Offline LAN Event on January 14th at Crown Resorts complex in Melbourne.
This team has put in a lot of hard work over the past few months, and we here at Legacy are looking forward to boosting their efforts with the support of a strong organisation dedicated to player wellbeing.
